It’s here! Christmas is here! The late arrival of this edition of Quick Bits means that it’s more of year-end recap than a monthly glimpse.
I always want to go into this season slowly, to revel in the moments, but the reality is that much like any child coming into the world, nine months of preparation still results in an arrival not in our own time and the birth is over before we are able to appreciate it’s happening.
November felt like a lot of hurry-up and wait, to the point that the last entry in my journal is November 18th and I’ve yet to start a new notebook because I had to find one that checked all my boxes!
Despite the craziness of this season (we had 2 “winter” concerts, 3 basketball games, youth group, practices for sports, and a dance recital just this past week!) I hope you’re able to find a few minutes of stillness to bask in the glow of Christmas lights.
Kindest Regards and a Very, Merry Christmas,
Jessica

We took our youngest daughter on her 13th birthday trip to NYC to see Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. The show was INCREDIBLE! I was growing more wary about how entertaining a play could be, but they blew all of us away with the special effects and music. The whole experience is worth a repeat! We also visited several other NYC must-sees during the Christmas season (Macy’s, Harry Potter NY, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, and Eataly).
November 24 - Our family went to see Angel Studios’ new movie Bonhoeffer in theaters! If you have a chance to see this movie take it! It was incredibly well done!
November 25 - The Husband and I “celebrated” 19 years of marriage. I say it in “quotes” because he was out of town for work and we’ve had barely more than a few minutes together.

November 29 - We headed up the mountain to get our Christmas tree, officially kicking off the Christmas season in our family!
We had bought my parents tickets to see Mannheim Steamroller Christmas for their anniversary/Christmas gift. My two youngest sons decided they wanted to go too. The youngest said it was “magical” and it really was! My eyes were suffering with some strange stinging sensation for much of the first half.
Just days ago we celebrated the THIRTEENTH birthday of our trio! I’m rather astounded at the reality of four teenagers in our home; where, last week, there was only one. The requested cakes included a 9-layer Russian Honey Cake, 4-layer Chocolate Raspberry Cake, and Dirt Cake!
