Quick Bits ✝️ #014
Heading into Holy Week
I know it sounds weird to say that Holy Week is one of my favorite times of the liturgical year, but it is. This week always feels like a reread of a favorite book, knowing all that’s going to happen, hoping that somehow the ending will change, that our beloved Savior won’t have to walk through all that he does; while simultaneously knowing that it is necessary, and not without purpose, that it plays out the way it does.
And I’m so glad it does! Without Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, there is no hope for any of us: We cannot save ourselves. One of the things that have been heavy on my mind is how do we explain to anyone, but especially those who do not know Jesus as anything more than a name, who Jesus is and what he’s done for him?
So many people I know, some of whom have grown up in church, have said, “I just don’t feel like I need Jesus.” What? How do we respond to that? I know I’m not the only one who is grasping at how to respond.
Let us pray.
Almighty God, we pray you graciously to behold this your
family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be
betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer
death upon the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and
the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. — The Book of Common Prayer
Abundant Easter Blessings to you,
Jessica

Quick Bits 💌 #014
I completed the first of my reading challenges of the year. My goal for this year is very simple: Read what I enjoy, meaning rereads of old favorites. The first one on my docket was the Anne of Green Gable series. I read them on my Kindle so that I could easily make note of all of my favorite quotes and turns of phrase, rather than trying to write them all down.
Last weekend child 1 and 3 had their first musical debut in our high school’s production of Mary Poppins. They were exquisite! My daughter had her first taste of theater this past winter and loved it, but for my son he was thrown into it. A senior stepped away from the show, and since there are so few males, my 7th grader was offered two large parts, both of which he knocked out of the park! Our high school has only been doing musicals since 1999, when I was in the 2nd one we did. Some have been p.a.i.n.f.u.l. to watch. This one, the entire cast did an exceptional job!
I took the kids to the dentist this week and all five were out in 30 minutes with no cavities! I call that a WIN!

“I believe we’ve all wondered about living different lives, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love the one we have. We are given one finite life, and the alternates fade when we don’t choose them. But” — she stared of into the distance—"that doesn’t mean we don’t wonder.”
