Quick Bits 🏖️#018
August is the Sunday of Summer - Unknown
It’s “officially” here, the end of Summer; despite a few weeks left on the calendar. We’ve just spent a quiet week in one of our favorite places, just the seven of us. I believe it’s the first time that we’ve ever gone anywhere, vacation or trip, just us.
While you are reading this we will be making the 13 hour trek northward (prayers appreciated): Back to our Catskill mountains, back to our little farmstead, back to farmers markets, and our fall routines.
I’m both ready for it and incredibly sad at the same time. What routines do you stick to in your mornings? Let me know in the comments.

Duck-Update: Rilla is doing much better. We took her to the vet toward the beginning of the month. Vet said there wasn’t much to investigate that they could actually DO something for. They gave her a round of antibiotics and that was that. I will say giving a duck droppers of liquid medication is next-level. They did seem to perk her up and she’s been doing much better, albeit still with a slight limp.
This August has been a month of non-fiction for me. Not sure why; it’s just the way it happened. July was spent reading a lot of library holds and it just felt time for something a bit more cerebral.
My routine this week has consisted of waking up by 7:30 am and heading out to our ocean view deck to read some of my book and continue on in The Bible Recap. Followed by breakfast and a family swim session at 11am. While it has truly been a joy, I’m looking forward to being back in our own spaces.

Quotable Quotes 💬
“I think this was wise; the greatest service we can do to education today is to teach fewer subjects. No one has time to do more than a very few things well before he is twenty, and when we force a boy to be a mediocrity in a dozen subjects we destroy his standards, perhaps for life.” CS Lewis - Surprised by Joy
