"The lovely flowers embarrass me; they make me regret I am not a bee." — Emily Dickinson

Dear Reader,
Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning! We’ve had several days straight of sunshine and it has been 🎵 GLORIOUS 🎵 We’ve had far more rain and days in the 40s this May than is good for the soul. Rain is wonderful, but consistently colder temps in May start to wear.
We still have another month until the official end of our school year, and we’re all so emphatically DONE. Done with school schedules and being in a constant orbit around and with other people who are decidedly done as well. Our lovely state keeps adding more and more DEI holidays to the school calendar, which results in a shorter and shorter summer break, because we still have to hit that 180 days 🙄 The idea of people just taking off whatever they need and not penalizing them for celebrating religious and cultural traditions, hasn’t crossed anyone’s mind.
For ourselves, we’ve had a rather busy month, some of which I have already shared here, with some decisions that have us looking at a very different summer. For the first time in 8 years we’ve decided to not do our regular farmers market, which means weekends are our own again. It frees up quite a bit of time and gives us more of an opportunity to be home all together.
Until we meet again: Go with God!
Jessica

The Husband decided to get bees. We’ve had them in the past and have always lost them over the winter. It’s been several years, but he wanted to try again. Hopefully they’ll be better able to winter over, and if not we’ll at least get honey
.
This is an exceptionally short Quick Bits, because I just don’t have it to give, and that’s OK. Somedays {or weeks or months} are like that, even in Australia.
What are you looking forward to this Summer?

📺 I have every intention of starting “The Other Bennet Sister” and the new “Count of Monte Cristo”, but I’m also trying to pinch pennies, which means saying no to yet ANOTHER subscription service.

Thank you for the mention!
What you said about summer vacation resonates. When my kids were still in school they made the school day longer, which was aggravating. I don’t see how all these extra hours and days in school really benefit anyone.
