Dear Reader,
Here were are, the end of July, with only a month left of our summer. In NY, school doesn’t start until after Labor Day, and this year it’s particularly late. It’s been an odd summer: My oldest has a summer job and now one of the younger ones does too. It’s an entirely new world, and not one I’m particularly sure of. Even I have been working as a swimming lesson assistant at our town pool.
Much of this month I have had every intention, as in the months before, to write. To sit down and spend some concerted time and effort into writing something….anything?! There has been little to no success on that front. I’ve tried. I’ve also tried just posting on Instagram and that’s been less than stellar too.
Finally, this past week, work was canceled and I had no additional demands on my time and I was able to write 2000 words; it hasn’t happened since, but I’ll take it!
Until we meet again: Go with God!
Jessica

Happy 250th Birthday, America! It’s never too late to celebrate. Our town held what they called FreedomFest 250, with all of the things that make small towns wonderful. A market on the village green with food vendors and several friendly competitions, such as Best Burger and Best Apple Pie. My youngest daughter and I entered a pie each, and she beat me! This was her first apple pie ever; she spent quite a bit of time on decorating her crust, which I think gave her an edge over mom 😉
This month I have been enlisted to assist with swimming lessons for four weeks at our town pool. It’s been an experience. Most of the kids I’m familiar with from substitute teaching, but the addition of water is a whole new level of chaos! I taught all my children how to swim and they were all very proficient swimmers by the time they were 3 or 4 years old, so older kids who are panicked about water is a whole new thing to me.
My youngest daughter and I took it upon ourselves to repaint the Sunday school room at our church. It was painted the same questionable yellow as the aged plastic EXIT sign. It took us a few days, but it looks immensely better now.
I have several paint projects in the works, this was the first on the list. My goal is to use up as many of the half cans of paint that are lying around as I can. The blue was from my boys’ room renovation (8 years ago) and the green, I believe, was from my eldest's nursery.
🕮 Theo of Golden by Levi Allen 🎧 Absolutely nothing. This is becoming a problem and honestly something I might need to write about. 📺 Started “The Other Bennet Sister”, excellent, but some big differences from the book. Enola Holmes 3: Less than stellar.

“It might not make a lot of sense, but for anything to be good, truly good, there must be love in it.” - Theo of Golden
